Hi ! I'm french, and in France, Akino Arai is totally unknown. I've discover her with the song Kirei na Kanjou. Her voice sounded so sweet, it was really beautiful. Some days after, I've read some lyrics on this site. Finally, Akino Arai is really a first class singer; her voice, her lyrics... I've started to talk about her around me.

I have been a long time listener and avid fan of Akino-Sama and you have no idea how far and wide I have searched to not only find sites in English about Akino Arai, but also English translations of her amazing songs. I am an avid fan of JPOP and Japanese music in general and Akino Arai was one of the first Japanese artists that I got into. It started with the end themes of the anime, Outlaw Star, then I ended up downloading every single one of her songs that I could. I like a lot of JPOP, but I love Akino Arai's music and voice especially. It was because I was so taken by her voice, so serene, yet haunting, that I decided to study Japanese in college.
I am currently a junior at Ohio University in my second year of Japanese. I took Japanese in hopes of being able to understand her music. Today, my interest in Japanese and Japanese culture has led me to studying abroad in Japan. I will be studying in Japan for one year before I return to finish my degree. Hopefully, I will have a future in Japan. When I got to college, I seriously didn't now what to do or study. Because of Akino Arai, I was able to discover my passion for Japan. Thanks for listening and most importantly, thanks for making a website with Akino Arai in English. Perhaps, I can meet Akino-Sama when I am in Japan.

I have always wanted to show my art work off to fellow Akino fans. Sure many of people around me at school have seen my art, but they always ask "where does it come from?" i say "....Arai Akino", of course they say "What the hell is that?".. So now i want to present 1 or 2 peices of my art work to people who might understand where it came from. My art is most likely going to be VERY diffrent from what most people think a Arai Akino music looks like, but thats my aim, i am trying to make something NO BODY has seen before. This is why i admire Akino so much, because she is trying to make something new, and being very creative,.. i admire that very much, so i am trying to do the same.
OK thanks... oh ya, my name is Michael Arriaga, yes a guy Arai Akino fan! I love beautiful music.

I discovered Akino's music by accident; one of my friends gave me a copy of Sora no Mori to listen to, and after hearing her voice, I fell in love with her music. She has such a passion in her music, something that is refreshing to hear in these days of manufactured pop music. She has almost single handedly turned me into a JPop fan. Now, I always go to sleep with the Moon Light Anthem playing on my CD player.

In Arai Akino's work, I sensed a dissimilar, more enthralling sentiment. I noticed this ever since I heard the ending theme songs for Outlaw Star. After exploring the songs, I found things, bizarre, but in the fine way. I think that Arai Akino uses the tone of the song to show what's occurring aside from the just the conventional storytelling manner of lyrics. After listening to "Hiru no Tsuki" I saw a adolescent girl laying and thinking on a hill with the distant moon in the background. In the part where the song goes somewhat like "nani ge nai kono omoi nee, hito ha donna kotoba de yondeiru no." I noticed that the violin was intensifying in a way. To me, it symbolizes idea and development, and it is kinda right for the question this person is setting. When the song gets to "itsuka shiru toki ga kuru no? mune no itami wo soshite ima yori yasashiku naru no ne" The instruments are at their most "brilliant" part or the point of the song and the girl has discovered an important part of what she is searching the answers for. It's so nice wherever she is, whether it is an actual place by the description of the song or a mental state of mind, that she'll probably continue to reflect and store that for later. I have found similar connections in other pieces.
P.S. guys do listen to Arai Akino!

I must be one of hundreds who became enchanted by Akino Arai's voice when Cartoon Network first ran Outlaw Star. Hearing the haunting "Hiru no Tsuki" before drifting off to sleep each night seemed a perfect close to the day. It wasn't long before I started searching for information on the net. Piece by piece I was able to find out a little about who this amazingly talented artist is, but when I found your marvelous site, I knew my searching was over. I just wanted to say thank you.
Thanks again for all your work, it is appreciated, even by those of us who don't frequent the chats and boards.

Hey yeah, this is Tia from Providence, Rhode Island in the US saying that I absolutely ADORE Akino and what she does. She's made a huge influence on me. Her music, and what it's about, is so innocent and just beautiful, there's no other words for it. Listening to my girl Akino makes me feel good, and I sometimes sing along with her songs because I love them so much! Hahaha. I'm studying Japanese, and I'm able to understand SOME of her songs really well, and when I read the translations to some songs, I'm able to understand and sometimes even relate to what she's saying and what it is she's trying to get across. Akino Arai will always be my favorite Asian singer, ever. I hope to be as successful a singer as she is one day! Love yeh Akino! ^.~
PS My favorite songs are Reve, Kirei na Kanjou, Kanaete, Kaze to Tori to Sora, Ningen no Kodomo, and Aoi Sora ni. :)
Much Love and Respect,

A welcome load of Akino Arai info. I have to admit the addition of Akino Arai discs in my collection raises eyebrows among my punk-loyal comrades, but fuck if I can resist a voice that beautiful. (I routinely cry during Hiru no Tsuki and Moonlight Anthem is just enchanting) As an aside, you mentioned you liked FLCL (I think)... so go buy a Pillows disc to add some rock to your music. Good stuff.
